DOCUMENTARY LIVERPOOL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

I’m a Liverpool Wedding Photographer and my aim is to provide you with a fantastic experience and a collection of images that truly represent your wedding day. The experience I provide is important to me, as you have been planning your wedding day for a long time, and you deserve to enjoy it just like you do in your dreams; Therefore, I am not going to pose you, tell you what to do, hang your dress in a tree, or disrupt your day.

I am a member of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers, and I’m proud to have won a Wedisson award for my wedding photography too.

When booking you can choose if it’s just me that photographs your wedding, or if you would like Jenna to join me too. Good reasons to choose two photographers at your wedding are to capture images of the groom getting ready, more moments and memories captured the through the day, and different viewpoints of your ceremony too. To learn more about Jenna and I, take a look at the about us page.

There’s lots of information about wedding photography in Liverpool and Merseyside on the website, including my wedding blogs, and some of my favourite wedding photos in the gallery.

What is documentary wedding photography?

Documentary wedding photography is about a collection of images that the photographer hasn’t influenced or directed. This means the wedding photographs are completely natural, relaxed, and true representation of the wedding day. Personally, I believe this is the best way to re-live your wedding day over and over again as you enjoy looking through the photographs that I create for you.

What about the group photos? We can do some of those too, but I do limit them as I know from experience wedding guests don’t enjoy this part of the day.
What about a wedding portrait? As my clients don’t like posing, they often go for a walk or a have a quiet chat for five minutes, and while this is happening I will photograph it.

We highly recommend Steve Chaplin Photography. The wedding pictures Steve and his partner Jenna took for us are brilliant. They perfectly capture the story of our day, allowing us to relive each special moment we shared with our family and friends. They worked so well together to produce a fantastic collection of photos from different perspectives. We’re weren’t looking for formal photos so Steve’s documentary style suited us really well, allowing us to relax and enjoy the day while he blended into the wedding party taking photographs as the day unfolded. So many of our guests complemented how discrete he was – a quality we really liked.

We met Steve before the day and he answered all our questions. His service is very professional and he used his experience to ask for information that he knew would make things run smoothly and he really put our minds at ease. We also received the photos sooner than we expected after the day, which was a bonus.

Thank you so much Steve!

The important things about wedding photography

This can sound a bit cliché, but there are not many items left over after your wedding day. You will have the wedding dress, your rings, and your photographs. There are different styles of wedding photography and different interpretations of them too – it can definitely be confusing for couples choosing a wedding photographer!

To get you started, have a think about these things: Do you like the photographs created by the wedding photographer? Do you like their approach and personality? Do they fit into your wedding budget?

Remember to choose your wedding photographer wisely, as “going cheap” might seem like a great idea to fit in your budget, but there isn’t much you can do if you’re not happy with your wedding photographs after your special day.

Before your wedding day

Before your wedding day we will make time to chat about your wedding day so I have an understanding about your wedding day, you can ask any questions, and I can guide you through how I will photograph your special day. As weddings are often organised over a year in advance, we will generally chat/Skype/meet a couple of times before your wedding day.
What else? Well, booking me is really easy as I don’t want to add lots of tasks to your busy lives. The balance payment is due one calendar month before your wedding day. I will contact you to book meetings, and remind you of payments so you don’t need to worry about these things.

What happens on your wedding day?

On your wedding day I will usually start photographing you getting ready about two hours before your ceremony. I tend to blend in with your guests and take photos of all the little moments and events taking place through the day. My approach/personality means that guests are comfortable around me and don’t feel awkward about having their photograph taken. A lot of couples say they forgot I was even there 😊

What happens during your wedding breakfast? That’s the time when I tend to take a break and have some food too. I think that most people won’t want any photos of them eating, so this period of the day is a logical time for me to eat too. I will keep an eye on what is going on and be back photographing in time for the wedding speeches.

I will keep photographing your wedding day until you have completed your first dance, and I usually get some party/dancing photos too.

The above means I am photographing a great story that includes all the important traditions of your wedding day.

How do we see our wedding photographs?

Once I have carefully edited your wedding photographs, I will upload them to your private online gallery for you to see. From the gallery you can enjoy re-living your wedding day using the photo slideshow, and download all the photographs so you have your own copy for sharing and printing too.

If you have ordered an album, I will design the album based on your favourite images. You will see the album online first to make sure you’re happy with the design. Once you’re happy, I will then order the album to be printed for you.

Wedding Photography Packages

I have created a few different wedding photography packages to choose from, and the most important thing is that at a minimum I will be with you from when you’re getting ready, until your first dance in the evening. You will always receive all the edit photographs, I won’t hold any edit images back because you chose a lower package etc. The difference with the wedding packages is the albums – quality, size, parent albums etc.

I then have a few extra options that you can choose such as a second photographer, and a USB stick in a handcrafted case.

Wedding Albums

I wish everyone had enough wedding budget for an album as I do think that so many couples will never print their wedding photographs. Not that long ago, the album was the only way that you received your wedding photos; whilst that might be harder to share on facebook, I know you will get more enjoyment from viewing your wedding day in this way.

What I have done is to make sure each couple has something printed, by including a coffee book album with my base package. I will design the layout of the book using your favourite wedding photos, and of course you get chance to see the design before it is ordered with the printer.

The coffee table book is great, but it’s not a patch on the wedding albums that I order from Folio Albums! Folio make handcrafted wedding albums from sustainable materials and are simply awesome! I have included the Folio wedding albums in some of my packages which are detailed on my pricing page.
